Since I have been off injured it has given me a lot of spare time! Time that I never used to have because I was kayaking as much as possible. A lot of people said that this time off could be a good thing and will allow me to get other things done and sort out my direction in life! Profound and definitely true!!!
I have had a lot of time to work on the up coming film which I must say is coming along nicely! It has also given me more time to sort out how to film better! With the expertise of Alan, my dad, we have come up with a number of sweet contraptions that im going to share with you over the next while. First up is our Gopro mount system. I wanted something that I could put on and take off with ease on any river trip. I wanted something that as light and tough. I wanted something that could be moved from back to front with ease. I came up with an idea of integrating the mount into the grabloop of the kayak. I have seen a lot that mount here but this means getting rid of your grabloop. With some alterations to design we came up with the removable mount/grabloop system. Check it out!
-The Mount/grabloop system attached to boat
-Simply angle Gopro toward kayaker and tie it on just incase
We made 2 of these so one can be attached to front and one on the back. That way you can switch it round throughout the river trip. The attachment rod does stick up a little bit but its nothing too serious. We have tested it out (not me obviously) and it works great! I cant wait to be fixed so I can enjoy using this out there!!
Cheers
Josh

Ingenious. And your photo of you dropping down that waterfall is amazing. How do you keep the kayak horizontal?
I think it looks brilliant, I would certainly be interested in buying one, but if I can make a suggestion, I would like if there was a replaceable weak point in the system somewhere. You know, so the thing would break before your kayak if something untoward was to happen mid free fall. Better a repairable camera mount than one ripped out by its roots an a hole in your boat...
If your selling any please let me know

First of all, it was great articles like this that made me go out and try 30 different types of rigs for getting a scorpion mount on the back of my boats. I really wanted to have a rig to take on and off and go back and forth between boats… Which is no small task. ( I feel like I shout note that I am not a white water yaker, but I do a fair amount of rolling in bracing in my sea kayak.) So, with a lot of trial and error, I ended up with a stickypod. I’ve got it set at 2 1/2 feet off the boat and my largest concern in the past week has not been keeping it on, but getting it off! (which I did) And yes, I did smash my GOPRO into a rock and sand while upside down and it went no where. Not to mention i can move it around for different angles! Now I have no affiliation with this company and I know that it might not work as well for white water, BUT it does exactly what I need it to, and I wanted to share. Hope this helps! Enjoy the water!!!
